Musica in Giro

Musica in Giro

Music will be heard on the streets in Florence on August 1, the first event of the sustainable and social distance-enabling initiative.

For months in Italy and around the world, music fans have been in despair from the cancellation of all live music events and concerts and now it will continue through the summer due to safety protocols and prohibition of gatherings. Thus, MUSICA IN GIRO was born, a concept created by Luigi d’Amico in collaboration with the Municipality of Florence that will bring music to the city streets.

Saturday, August 1, 2020, classical music will be the protagonist thanks to the artistic direction and conducting of Maestro Beatrice Venezi, the youngest Orchestra Conductor of Europe who currently directs the New Scarlatti Orchestra of Naples and is Assistant Conductor of the First National Orchestra in Armenia and Principal Guest Conductor of the Puccini Festival. Pianist and composer born in 1990, Beatrice Venezi has conducted international orchestras in Italy, Japan, Belarus, Portugal, Lebanon, Canada and Argentina and has distinguished herself for her extraordinary talent and creativity and as an anti-conformist, pioneer and champion of youth and female empowerment.

The event will be held at the Verdi Theater where Maestro Venezi will conduct the Orchestra della Toscana to play her first album, My Journey - Puccini's Symphonic Works, published by Warner Music Italia.

While the concert will be held behind closed doors, the notes brought to life by Maestro Venezi will be streamed on two CRICKET PE30s, which will carry out two distinct routes throughout the streets of Florence to bring music to the residents of the city.

Cricket PE30 is the first electric vehicle with a K-ARRAY professional audio setup to render a truly innovative solution capable of creating "moving" musical events to avoid gatherings and maintain the required physical distance. The Simai CRICKET PE30 vehicles will be marketed, also with short- and long-term rental solutions, by Toyota Material Handling Italia Srl.

Says Maestro Beatrice Venezi, pianist, composer and conductor of the event: "The restart after this period of great difficulty that we have all gone through requires a reflection on the need to rethink how to promote and enjoy music, live performance, occasions of social aggregation. Musica in Giro represents an innovative, accessible and inclusive approach to thinking about the performing arts, a project to which I am very happy to be able to contribute."

Stefano Zaccaria, VP of Sales & Marketing at K-array adds: "It is a great honor for us to support the production of this event, which starts right from our city of Florence to bring music back to the city and above all, in this different form, is a new, respectful, sustainable, indiscriminate way for everyone to continue to enjoy music. "

Tommaso Sacchi, Councilor for Culture, Fashion and Design of the Municipality of Florence concludes, “The terrible pandemic that has cost us a lot in human lives has also forced us to remodel our cultural offerings. However, we did not want to give up some events of the Florentine summer which has always been a flagship for the city and which has, at its core, the enhancement of the less central areas with the spread of art, shows and culture throughout the city and beyond. In this sense, we have welcomed Musica in Giro, placing our suburbs at the center of attention and involving the whole city with music as a way of offering citizens new opportunities to start again from culture."
