Royal Automobile Club

The Royal Automobile Club, a prestigious members-only club in London founded in 1897, required state-of-the-art sound technology for its large banquet hall. The largest of Pall Mall’s private rooms, the stately Mountbatten Room is a spacious venue for weddings, conferences, drinks receptions and banquets furnished with mirrored panels, marble fireplaces, chandeliers and sumptuous soft furnishings.

Known for its tradition and sophistication in a city chic location, the club needed a high-quality audio solution to complement its impeccable dining and service standards but would not compromise the architecture and décor of the 104-year old building. The Club had sixteen Lyzard-KZ14 miniature loudspeakers installed horizontally paired with five KKS50 subs for an invisible installation.

The room needed a new loudspeaker solution that sounded great and offered seamless coverage, but was as aesthetically sympathetic as possible. And because The Mountbatten Room predominately hosts banquets, we needed a system that could ensure the speakers are heard by everybody, but the sound had to be very natural. Since the room is also used for conferencing, it was important to get the sound right for both. Since the system was set up, we’ve been very happy with the sound. It’s got a good balance and everyone is very pleased with it.
