For the first time since its opening in the Hollywood Hills in 1914, Yamashiro has expanded beyond Los Angeles, debuting a new location in downtown Miami. Situated on the ninth-floor rooftop of the Gale Miami Hotel & Residences, Yamashiro Miami reinterprets the brand’s century-old heritage within a modern, open-air setting overlooking the city skyline.

A Rooftop Restaurant and Nightlife Destination in Miami

Developed and operated by Boulevard Hospitality Group, Yamashiro Miami features a 9,000-square-foot indoor-outdoor rooftop design that merges traditional Japanese temple aesthetics with Miami’s dynamic, high-energy atmosphere. The venue functions both as a fine dining restaurant and a nightlife destination, requiring a versatile professional audio system capable of seamless transition from daytime ambiance to evening entertainment.

Outdoor Audio Challenges in Miami’s Climate

Designing an audio system for a rooftop venue in Miami presents significant environmental challenges. The installation is fully exposed to sun, humidity, wind, and rain, demanding IP-rated outdoor audio equipment engineered for durability and long-term performance. At the same time, the sound system needed to integrate discreetly within the space, preserving the panoramic rooftop views and maintaining the venue’s upscale aesthetic without visual intrusion.

K-array Audio System Installation by DRVCS AV

The audio system was designed and installed by DRVCS AV, leveraging K-array professional audio solutions known for their compact form factor and high performance. The system is built around K-array Python-KP52 I line array speakers, chosen for their slim design and controlled dispersion, which allows consistent and even coverage across the entire rooftop area. Low-frequency reinforcement is delivered by K-array Thunder-KS2P I subwoofers, seamlessly integrated into custom wooden enclosures that match the venue’s finishes and architectural style. Powering the entire system are K-array Kommander-KA208 amplifiers, ensuring reliable performance and efficient system control in a demanding outdoor environment.

Even Coverage and Discreet Design

The use of compact line array speakers allows for precise sound distribution while minimizing visual impact. Strategic placement ensures even audio coverage throughout the rooftop, avoiding hotspots and maintaining a balanced listening experience in both dining and lounge areas.

Seamless Transition from Dining to Nightlife

The resulting system supports Yamashiro Miami’s dual identity: during dining hours, it delivers clear, detailed background music at low volume levels, enhancing the guest experience. In the evening, it scales effortlessly to support live music performances and DJ sets, without requiring additional temporary equipment

A Scalable Outdoor Sound System for Hospitality Venues

By combining weather-resistant loudspeakers, custom integration, and precision system design, Yamashiro Miami benefits from a scalable rooftop audio solution that meets the demands of both hospitality and nightlife environments.
