Extending High Motor Strength to Compact Full-Range Loudspeakers
SPIXEL® is Powersoft's High Motor Strength (HMS) transducer technology, developed to extend the advantages of high motor force architectures to compact full-range loudspeakers. Building upon the engineering principles established with IPAL® technology for low-frequency reproduction, Spixel applies the same High Motor Strength approach to traditional wideband transducer architectures, enabling high acoustic performance from remarkably compact systems.
At the core of the technology is the optimization of the electrodynamic motor. Rather than increasing acoustic output through larger radiating surfaces or higher moving mass, Spixel maximizes the relationship between motor force and moving mass. The result is a transducer capable of converting electrical energy into acoustic output more efficiently while maintaining precise control of diaphragm motion throughout its operating range.
The architecture combines a high motor force (BL) with a lightweight moving assembly. Increasing the BL-to-Mms ratio allows the diaphragm to accelerate and decelerate more rapidly, improving the accuracy with which it follows the electrical input signal while reducing the effects of inertia.
This approach enables a compact transducer to reproduce complex audio signals with greater precision, contributing to improved clarity, speech intelligibility and overall electroacoustic efficiency.
By extending the High Motor Strength philosophy to compact full-range transducers, SPIXEL enables loudspeaker systems to achieve wide bandwidth reproduction, high acoustic output and reduced enclosure volume. These characteristics make the technology particularly suitable for architectural audio, distributed sound systems and professional installations where high performance, compact dimensions and discreet integration are equally important.
